Routing Stormwater From Impervious Areas
Often it is possible to use the stone recharge bed for stormwater management for adjacent impervious areas such as roofs and roads. This will reduce costs and impact to the environment for the entire project.
To achieve this, stormwater should be conveyed directly into the stone bed, where perforated pipes can distribute the water evenly. The ability to do this will depend on available porous pavement area, infiltration rate, and volume of runoff from impervious areas. Sediment control devices should be used to prevent transporting silt, sand, and other fine materials into the recharge bed.
