NAPA Honors 2019 Asphalt Industry Leaders for Operational Excellence

Awards Program Celebrates Safety Innovations and Community Involvement

The National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) honored the winners and finalists of its 2019 Operational Excellence Awards recognized today (February 5) at a ceremony during the association's 65th Annual Meeting.

"NAPA members strive for excellence beyond constructing high-quality asphalt pavements. The two categories of the Operational Excellence Awards — Asphalt Operations Safety Innovation and Community Involvement — recognize a company’s commitment to operations that make them good contractors, good industry ambassadors, and good neighbors," stated NAPA 2019 Chairman John Harper.

The winners and finalists honored during the ceremony include:

Asphalt Operations Safety Innovation Award Winner:

  • Lakeside Industries Inc. of Issaquah, Washington, for Field Trauma Kit for Worksites

Asphalt Operations Safety Innovation Award Finalist:

  • Cornejo & Sons Inc. of Wichita, Kansas, for Entering and Exiting Work Zone Flags

Community Involvement Award Winners:

  • Helping Hand Up at Allan Myers of Malvern, Pennsylvania
  • Boxley 360: Corporate Responsibility Program at Boxley Materials Co. of Lynchburg, Virginia

Community Involvement Award Finalists:

  • Callanan Cares at Callanan Industries Inc., A CRH Co., of Albany, New York
  • Tilcon Gives Back at Tilcon New York Inc., A CRH Co., of Parsippany, New Jersey

The Operational Excellence Awards honor leaders in the asphalt pavement industry for innovation and excellence in community outreach with the Community Involvement Award and responsible practices with the Asphalt Operations Safety Innovations.

The Operational Excellence Awards are a counterpart to NAPA’s annual Quality in Construction Awards, which recognize asphalt paving jobs completed in line with best practices and standards known to yield high-quality asphalt pavements.

The NAPA Awards Program recognizes and encourages continuous improvement in all aspects of paving and asphalt operations.
