Best Practices in Paving Webinar Series - This webinar series is an ideal resource to help train your paving crew so that they can provide a quality pavement in a safe work zone. Companies can use this series as a train the trainer, or to meet the training requirements in the Diamond Paving Commendation for their entire paving crew. The Diamond Commendation program outlines best practices for asphalt plant operations, asphalt production, paving, and asphalt terminal operations. The self-assessment process helps companies benchmark their operations against a national standard, identify areas for improvement, and earn national recognition for their commitment to quality.
Asphalt plants earning a Diamond Achievement Commendation have the option to further assess the sustainability of their facility's operations with the Diamond Achievement Sustainable Commendation. This expanded commendation assesses the social, economic, and environmental efforts of an asphalt production facility to gauge how well it puts the principles of sustainability and community engagement into action. After qualifying for the Diamond Achievement Commendation, applicants will be given the option to continue with the Diamond Achievement Sustainable Commendation for no additional charge. |Diamond Achievement Commendation covers operations in the manufacturing plant and around the plant site. Aspects addressed include appearance, operations, environmental practices, safety, permitting and regulatory compliance, and community relations.|
|The Diamond Achievement Sustainable Commendation is a new, optional level to the Diamond Achievement Commendation. This expanded commendation assesses the social, economic, and environmental efforts of an asphalt production facility to gauge how well it puts the principles of sustainability and community engagement into action.|
|The Diamond Terminal Commendation covers operations in and around the terminal facility site. Aspects addressed include appearance, operations, environmental practices, safety, permitting and regulatory compliance, and community relations.|
|The Diamond Paving Commendation is designed for paving crews. Areas evaluated include training of supervisors and crew members, use of best practices in paving, and compliance.|
|The Diamond Quality Commendation deals with the quality of the material produced. Areas evaluated include quality management, RAP and aggregate handling, asphalt storage, drying and mixing, air quality, truck scales, silos, and control rooms.|
Taken together, the three commendations provide a blueprint for excellence in all aspects of the industry’s operations, both at the plant and on the paving site.
All companies in the asphalt pavement industry in the United States and Canada are eligible for the Diamond Achievement, Diamond Quality and Diamond Paving Commendations.
Applications for the Diamond Achievement, Diamond Quality and Diamond Paving Commendations may be completed online. A running score provides immediate feedback to the applicant, letting you know if you meet the Diamond standard before the application is submitted. You must be logged in to the NAPA website to access the Diamond applications. NAPA members may use their NAPA login credentials. If you do not have login credentials contact the Diamond Commendation Coordinator.
Companies that earn Diamond Commendations receive a handsome plaque when they first earn a commendation, press releases for distribution to local media, and other materials to support recognition within the local community. Companies that earn Diamond Commendations by November 1 are also recognized publicly at the next NAPA Annual Meeting.
